Operating out of Cambridgeshire and London, we partner with companies, charities, creatives and locals nationwide. Our methods are rooted in documentary styles and authentic connection: listening closely, observing the reality, and weaving the film from there.

What matters to us
A few principles behind how we approach the work.
01 — Listen first
The strongest films usually start with curiosity, not a predetermined script. We take time to understand the people, the place and what actually matters.
02 — Keep it human
We don’t manufacture emotion or force people into a story that isn’t there. The film should feel considered without losing the truth of the people inside it.
03 — Make it matter
A beautiful film should still have a purpose. We want to make work that people choose to watch, remember and share.
Founded by Carlos Pinhao
Carlos spent years working independently as a filmmaker before creating Norminary. That experience shaped a way of working built around listening first, understanding the people involved and letting the story emerge rather than forcing it into a formula.
Norminary was created to give that approach a home — a studio for thoughtful, cinematic films grounded in real people and genuine experiences.
